Chelsea to offer Lukaku a new contract

Chelsea are ready to offer striker Romelu Lukaku a new contract, which could include the option to return to Everton on loan for next season, the Independent has reported.

Romelu Lukaku

Lukaku has only just arrived back at Stamford Bridge after a highly productive loan spell at Goodison Park, where he scored 15 Premier League goals, the last of which coming in his final appearance on Sunday at Hull City.

Despite being signed for some £18m from Anderlecht in 2011, Lukaku has made just one Premier League appearance for Chelsea, and with Diego Costa set to join the club from Atletico Madrid this summer, he could once again find opportunities with the Blues few and far between.

The Belgian still has two years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea are considering offering an extension, in order to command a higher transfer fee and earn a sizeable profit should he be sold.

Lukaku’s future is most likely to be decided after the World Cup, but Everton are reportedly considering a £20m bid, which could cover their whole summer of spending.
