Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor has insisted that he is hoping to stay at the club after he rediscovered his goal-scoring touch under Tim Sherwood, Sky Sports has reported.

Sherwood left the club on Tuesday despite having successfully reintroduced the Togo international to the first-team set-up after he was frozen out by Andre Villas-Boas, but even if he does find himself out of favour again at White Hart Lane, Adebayor is prepared to stay, with two years still left on his contract.

He said: "I will be a Tottenham player. At the moment I have got two years left on my contract. But what happens if I wake up and what has happened to me in the past has happened again?

"What if the chairman called me and if the new manager says about moving me on, what do you want me to do? But it is like I said. At the moment I can't consider going anywhere."

Adebayor has spent three seasons at Tottenham, the first of which was on loan from Manchester City, where he was also left out in the cold. Since returning to North London where he previously represented bitter rivals Arsenal, the 30-year-old has scored 40 goals in 96 appearances.
