Van Gaal targets Robben and Muller for Man Utd

Friday 16 May 2014

Louis van Gaal, who is widely expected to become the new Manchester United manager, has reportedly told club bosses that he wants to bring Arjen Robben and Thomas Muller to the Old Trafford club.

Van Gaal is currently preparing for the upcoming World Cup in Brazil, where he will lead his native Holland - one of the players in his team will be Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben, who has gone from strength to strength since leaving Chelsea and the Premier League in 2009. The pacey wide-man regularly gets into double figures in the scoring charts, and could be seen as a replacement for Ryan Giggs, who plays ever-less for the club as he nears retirement.

Another attacking addition that Van Gaal has reportedly requested from Ed Woodward, Utd Vice-Chairman, is Robben's Bayern teammate, Thomas Muller, who has been widely linked with Man Utd over the past month. The Germany international is thought to have a good relationship with Van Gaal, and would as such be keen to make the move.
