No offers from Inter, says Liverpool midfielder Lucas
Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has moved to deny reports that he has been in talks with Inter over a possible summer move to the San Siro, writes Sky Sports.
Lucas has been at Liverpool since the summer of 2006, when he arrived from Gremio in his native Brazil. This season, owing partly to injury, he has found himself in and out of the starting XI, particularly since captain Steven Gerrard was switched to a deep-lying midfield role.
As a result, the 27-year-old had to be content with a place on the stand-by list after missing out on Brazil’s 23-man squad for the World Cup. In recent days, he has been linked with a move to Inter, where friend and international teammate Hernanes in among the playing staff.
However, with three years still remaining on his contract, Lucas has insisted that he has not spoken to Inter. He said: "I can say that at the moment I have received no offers.
"Liverpool have never contacted me regarding this possibility (moving to Inter). So I can't say there is a chance of me going to Inter because I am under contract at Liverpool. Serie A definitely is a great league though."
