Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra has travelled to Turin to hold talks with Italian champions Juventus over a possible summer move, according to the Daily Mail.

The Frenchman was reportedly spotted in Turin on Friday ahead of proposed negotiations, although Louis van Gaal, who is poised to be named Man Utd’s new manager, is keen for Evra to extend his eight and-a-half year stay at Old Trafford.

However, should Luke Shaw arrive at the club from Southampton, Evra is likely to be handed only a reduced role in the first-team, having been first choice left-back since moving from Monaco in January 2006.

Evra is yet to exercise an option in his current contract which states that he can extend his deal, leading to fears that he could be the third long-serving Man Utd player to leave the club this summer after centre-backs Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.

Vidic has already decided to move to Italy with Inter, and Evra may feel he will be guaranteed a more regular starting birth at Juve, who lifted the Serie A trophy on Saturday, winning the league with a record tally of 102 points.
