Man City target Eliaquim Mangala has revealed that he would prefer a move to Chelsea over the newly crowned champions this summer, according to ESPN.

The Porto defender confirmed that discussions were held about a potential move to City in the January transfer window, but that move did not materialise and with Chelsea reportedly now taking a look at the 23-year-old the player has confirmed that he would join Jose Mourinho’s men given the choice of the two. Managala did state, however, that his future will not be resolved until after this summer’s World Cup.

Speaking to beIN SPORTS, Mangala said: “I have told my agent that I don't want to know anything about the transfer window until the end of the World Cup. There have been discussions with Mancester City, but the clubs did not reach an agreement.

"City or Chelsea? Chelsea, because it is London.”

Mangala continued, however, stating that the Premier League is not a certain destination for him in the summer, and that ambition would be the primary drive behind any transfer that could happen.

He said: “It is true that I love the Premier League because it is a spectacular league. Every player wants to play in the biggest clubs. I am an ambitious player and the team that can help me win trophies is the one that interests me.”
