Liverpool and Man Utd renew interest in Konoplyanka
With both squads looking to strengthen over the summer Manchester United and Liverpool are both eying up a move for £12m rated Ukrainian star Yevhen Konoplyanka, the Mirror is reporting.
Liverpool failed in a January swoop for the Dnipro winger and it now looks like a tug of war will ensue after new United manager Louis Van Gaal identified the player as a potential target.
It was thought that the Reds were confident of a potential deal in the summer despite tensions with Dnipro following their deadline day pursuit but it is believed the former champions have been watching performances as recent as Sunday.
Konoplyanka also impressed this season when his side faced Tottenham in the Europa League, and it was revealed that the North London club had targeted the winger in January too.
However, there has been no fresh interest from the Spurs camp and with United waiting for Van Gaal to confirm he wants the player, it looks like it will be a two horse race.
The winger is available for £12m with a buy out clause inserted in his current contract.
Konoplyanka has made 34 app appearances for the club in all competitions this season and scored goals – he has made a total of 168 appearances for the club he joined as a 16-year-old.
