Lampard set for Chelsea contract extension
Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is on the brink of signing a new one-year contract to stay at Stamford Bridge for another season, according to the Daily Express.
The club’s all-time record goal scorer’s current deal is due to come to an end at the beginning of July, and although the new offer that is on the table includes a lower weekly wage, Lampard is said to be happy with the terms and expected to sign when he returns from England’s pre-World Cup training camp in Portugal.
A source close to Lampard, who has been at Chelsea for 14 years, said: ‘Frank is feeling very positive about the whole thing. He fully expects his Chelsea future to be resolved at some point next week before he flies off to Brazil. He is not looking at any other option other than spending next season at Stamford Bridge."
Unlike Lampard, teammate Ashley Cole is to leave the West London club this summer, and has reportedly set his sights on a move to Monaco, who are among eight clubs said to be interested, a list that also includes Premier League runners-up Liverpool.
