Reina to talk to Liverpool over future

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina does not know where he will be playing his football next season after his season long loan deal at Italian side Napoli came to an end, Sky Sports has reported.

Despite making 394 appearances for the Red across eight years it appears he does not feature in current boss Brendan Rodgers future plans, even with two year remaining on his current contract.

Reina left Anfield after the acquisition of Belgian Simon Mignolet who was swiftly installed as the number one choice at the club.

The Spanish stopper impressed during his year in Italy and has been linked with a return to his home country and La Liga.

However he is keeping his thoughts on preparations to take part in Spain’s World Cup squad for the time being.

Reina said: “Right now I'm only thinking of La Roja (Spain's national team). With regards to a new club, I will first have to speak to Liverpool.

"My season on loan at Napoli has been very positive and I thank the Napoli people and the club.”

The 'keeper has been previously linked with a return to former club Barcelona, but it looks unlikely after their transfer of German Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

The 31-year-old kept nine clean sheets this season for Napoli as he helped the club to a third place finish.
