Sunderland have confirmed the signing of West Brom defender Billy Jones on a free transfer, according to BBC Sport.

Billy Jones

Jones had been offered a new contract to remain in the midlands, but rejected the offer on the table and has instead agreed a four year deal on Wearside, and will join up with his new team-mates at the Stadium of Light when the transfer window opens on 1st July.

The 27-year-old expressed his happiness at completing the move, saying: “I'm really happy to be here and I'm looking forward to getting back for pre-season and kicking on. I've played at the Stadium of Light a number of times so I know what great backing the club has.

“I knew I was signing for a massive club with everything in place to kick on up the league and carry on moving forward.”

Jones had made 74 appearances for the Baggies since joining from Preston in 2011, and has captained England at all levels up to U-20.
