Swansea sign Arsenal goalkeeper Fabianski
Swansea City have announced the signing of Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski on a four-year contract, the Daily Mail is reporting.
The Pole is Garry Monk’s first signing since being handed the Swansea manager’s job on a permanent basis, and he arrives having spent a lengthy seven-year spell at the Emirates Stadium, but never established himself as first choice, often finding himself behind Jens Lehmann, Manuel Almunia and Wojciech Szczesny in the pecking order.
Overall he made 78 appearances for the Gunners, and in his final outing he helped the club to its first trophy for nine years, playing the full 120 minutes as they defeated Hull City in the FA Cup final on May 17.
The 29-year-old may take over the Swansea No.1 jersey for next season, with Michel Vorm linked with a move away, while veteran German Gerhard Tremmel should continue to provide competition.
Vorm has been first choice goalkeeper for Swansea since they were promoted to the Premier League in 2011, making a significant impact in South Wales with 31 clean sheets in 97 games.
