West Ham midfielder Mohamed Diame has revealed he wants to play for a team in the top six of the Premier League, Sky Sports has reported.

Mohamed Diame

The former Wigan Athletic man moved to the Hammers in 2012 after his contract with the Latics expired, and he has told French website Hat-trick that he sees himself playing at a higher level than the London club.

“I don't want to stop here,” the Senegalese said. “I still want more: Joining a club from the top six would be a dream come true.” West Ham finished last season in 13th place, 29 points behind sixth-place Tottenham Hotspur.

Diame added that he also wants to stay in the Premier League, having been linked with a move away from Upton Park this summer. “The Premier League is something unique, you cannot compare it with another league,” Diame said, having previously played in Spain with Rayo Vallecano.

“La Liga is also a very good league,” he added, But honestly the Premier League has this little special thing which makes all the difference.”

Diame made 40 appearances under Sam Allaradyce last season, starting 34 times and appearing on a further half-dozen occasions as a substitute.
