Liverpool in £25m Lallana bid
Liverpool have made Southampton a final offer of £25m for their captain Adam Lallana, but will pursue other targets if their bid is rejected, according to BBC Sport.
The Merseyside club originally came in with a bid of £20m, only for the bid to be swiftly rejected. Since then, however, the Saints have lost manager Mauricio Pochettino, who took up the vacant position at Tottenham on May 28.
With Lallana heading to the United States with the England squad on Sunday, Liverpool hope for any deal to completed as quickly as possible, or else they will turn to other targets. They have already all but signed Lallana’s Southampton teammate Rickie Lambert.
The 26-year-old, who earned his fourth England cap on Friday in the 3-0 victory over Peru, has been at Southampton in 2007, when he was taken from Bournemouth’s youth system. Under the terms of that deal, 25% of any transfer fee for Lallana must be paid to the Cherries.
Lallana scored nine goals in 38 appearances for Southampton over the season, earning himself a place in the Premier League Team of the Year and forcing his way into the reckoning for England.
