Spain manager Vicente Del Bosque has decided to leave Manchester City duo Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo out of his final 23-man squad for this summer’s World Cup, reports the Daily Express.

Alvaro Negredo

Both players helped Man City to win the Premier League and the Capital One Cup last season, with Navas scoring in the final of the latter. Negredo ended the season with a goal drought, but still ended it with a respectable 23 to his name.

Also missing out on the final cut is Real Madrid right-back Daniel Carvajal and Juventus striker Fernando Llorente, while Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has already been forced to pull out due to injury.

Despite his lack of goals, Chelsea front-man Fernando Torres has been selected by Del Bosque for the defence of their trophy. However, the 30-year-old has emerged with the Golden Boot at each of the last two international tournaments, hitting the net with regularity at Euro 2012 and the 2013 Confederations Cup.

Torres is one of seven English-based players in the Spain squad, a list which includes Chelsea teammate Cesar Azpilicueta and Man City playmaker David Silva. Spain are in Group B of the World Cup, with the Netherlands, Chile and Australia.
