Liverpool told to increase Moreno bid
Sevilla have informed Liverpool that they must increase their bid to €22m if they are to sign left-back Alberto Moreno, Soccer Espana is reporting.
According to reports in Spain, Moreno will join Liverpool, but only if the Reds return with an improved offer. The Europa League winners are unwilling to accept the current deal of €20m plus a season-long loan for attacking midfielder Suso.
Sevilla sporting director Monchi has told Liverpool that his club are not interested in Suso, but he would be happy to allow the sale of Moreno, as they believe that Brendan Rodgers’ side have offered an amount that is much greater than their valuation of the 21-year-old.
The Premier League runners-up could face competition from Chelsea for Moreno’s signature, with their manager Jose Mourinho looking to recruit a new left-back this summer. His first choice is reportedly Atletico Madrid’s Filipe Luis, but he will turn to Moreno should he fail in that pursuit.
Moreno has spent his whole career so far with his hometown club, and has scored three goals in his 61 senior appearances in all competitions. He was also part of the Spain squad which won the 2013 European U-21 Championships.
