Dawson wants Tottenham stay
Michael Dawson has dismissed suggestions he could leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer, talkSport has reported, stressing his loyalty to the club.
Dawson has been linked with a move to Premier League Hull City and Crystal Palace but said he wants to mark his 10th anniversary at White Hart Lane with a return to the Champions League. “I've been at Tottenham for nine-and-a-half years,” Dawson said. “It’s a great club and I’ve loved every minute of it while I’ve been here.
“The fans have been superb to me since day one because I’ve had some ups and downs like everyone does,” Dawson continued. “The expectations are high and the players want to achieve them. We want to be in the top four and hopefully next year we’ll have another push.”
Dawson moved to Spurs from Nottingham Forest in January 2005 and has gone on to play more than 300 times for the club, including 41 appearances last year as Tottenham finished in sixth place.
Tottenham will begin next season under new management after Mauricio Pochettino was hired from Southampton to replace Tim Sherwood, who in turn took over from Andre Villas-Boas when the Portuguese was sacked in December.
