Tottenham make £14m bid for Sevilla’s Moreno
Tottenham have made a bid of £14m to Sevilla for left-back Alberto Moreno, and have offered a season-long loan for striker Roberto Soldado as part of the deal, according to the Daily Mail.
This bid could potentially derail Liverpool’s attempts to sign the 21-year-old, with Reds thought to have been leading the race for his signature, but now new Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has sanctioned an offer for Moreno, who will not be representing Spain at the World Cup this summer after being cut from their provisional 30-man squad.
Pochettino has made signing a new left-back one of his main priorities for the summer, and although Liverpool are still the favourites due to their qualification for the Champions League, Sevilla could be tempted by a deal which would see them claim Soldado on loan as well as midfielder Etienne Capoue.
Liverpool have already made an offer of £20m, but Sevilla are holding out for £25m. They too are looking to recruit a new left-back after they were forced to play both Jon Flanagan and Glen Johnson out of position last season to cover for Jose Enrique’s long-term injury.
