Sagna to join Man City, says agent
The agent of Arsenal right-back Bacary Sagna has revealed that the Frenchman is set to join Premier League champions Manchester City this summer, ESPN is reporting.
Sagna will leave Arsenal this summer after spending seven years at the Emirates Stadium, after contract talks between himself and the club repeatedly broke down despite the offer of a higher salary. He moves on having helped the Gunners win last season’s FA Cup, making 284 appearances overall and scoring five goals.
A number of clubs have expressed an interest in Sagna in recent months, with Italian duo Inter and Napoli both said to have made contact with his agent, Laurent Gutsmuth. Turkish club Galatasaray were also said to be in the running, but according to Gutsmuth, Sagna has had his heart set on a move to Manchester.
"It's true that we were contacted, but for information only. We never spoke about figures," he told AreaNapoli.it. "He should be signing for Manchester City."
Sagna’s arrival at the Etihad Stadium is likely to pave the way for the out-of-favour Micah Richards to leave, with the former England international having made just two appearances in the Premier League last season.
