Former Manchester United manager David Moyes has said that he would like to return to management with a club participating in the Champions League, writes BBC Sport.

David Moyes

The Scot was sacked in April, towards the end of a disappointing Premier League season which saw the club finish seventh in the defence of their title, ensuring that they will not take part in European competition next season. However, he did manage to guide the club to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, only to lose out to Bayern Munich.

Moyes, who revealed that he has already turned down two managerial positions since leaving Old Trafford, hopes to get another taste of the Champions League. Speaking to the Guardian, he said: "I got my first real taste of the Champions League this year. I thought I showed I can manage at that level as well.

"I'll use United as an important experience in my managerial career. I feel I needed more time but I'll use it to benefit me and help me in the coming jobs. I've had a couple of opportunities to go back in and chosen not to.

"I'd like to look towards getting somewhere that would give me a chance of being in the Champions League or a club that has ambitions of being in the Champions League. It could be at home or abroad. I've always liked the thought of broadening my horizons and learning a bit more."
