Sherwood favourite for West Brom job

Former Tottenham Head Coach Tim Sherwood has emerged as the favourite to take over the vacant role at West Bromwich Albion, the Daily Express is reporting.

Tim Sherwood

Sherwood left White Hart Lane shortly after the end of last season, in which he guided Spurs to sixth place in the Premier League. He has since spoken of his desire to return to management, and despite being linked with Southampton, he looks most likely to be heading to the West Midlands after holding formal talks with West Brom officials.

Albion dismissed Pepe Mel shortly before Sherwood left Tottenham, with the Spaniard having only narrowly kept the club up, gaining just three victories over his four months in charge amid rumours of dissatisfaction among the playing staff.

The odds of Sherwood taking over at the Hawthorns have now plummeted to 2/1, with West Brom impressed with his work at Tottenham last season. Since parting company with Sherwood, Spurs have turned to Southampton’s Mauricio Pochettino.

Ronald Koeman is the heavy favourite to take over on the South coast, but despite his talks with West Brom, Sherwood is still said to be in the running.
