Italy manager Cesare Prandelli has claimed that Juventus and France star Paul Pogba is now the best midfielder in the world, Goal.com has reported.

Paul Pogba

Pogba began his career as a youngster at Manchester United, but was given few opportunities by then manager Sir Alex Ferguson and he was allowed to join Juventus. Since making the move he has earned rave reviews for his performances, which have helped the Turin side to two Serie A titles.

As manager of Italy, Prandelli has witnessed Pogba’s performances regularly, and believes that despite being just 21 years of age, he is now the world’s top midfielder. He said: "Pogba is the best midfielder in the world. He can play in several roles. He has exceptional physical and technical capabilities.

"He knows when to arrive in the area and how to cause the opposition trouble. Moreover, he has a very strong character."

Pogba is expected to be one of France’s key players at this World Cup, in a group containing Switzerland, Ecuador and Honduras, who Les Bleus take on in their first match on Sunday.
