Roma are the latest club to be linked with Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, as again it looks likely that the Belgian forward will play his football away from Stamford Bridge next season, the Daily Star has reported.

Lukaku has spent the last two seasons away from the club, taking in season long loans at Premier League clubs West Brom and Everton, scoring 17 and 16 goals respectively.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho repeatedly bemoaned his lack of fire power as the club’s strikers failed to make a massive impact on the scoring charts this term, yet it seems Lukaku is still out of favour with the Portuguese man.

With Samuel Eto’o leaving the after his one year deal was not renewed, and Demba Ba in talks with Turkish side Besiktas, the Blues are going to lose two strikers, and despite this it appears Mourinho is still not set on keeping the highly rated Belgian youngster.

Diego Costa has all but completed his move to West London as the front line of the club starts to be overhauled, and Roma see this as a perfect opportunity to snatch Lukaku.

The Italian club may use in demand defender Mehdi Benatia as a make weight for any offer for the striker.
