Cardiff to splash out on promotion push

Tuesday 10 June 2014

Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman has confirmed that more transfer funds will be provided as the club seek an immediate return to the Premier League, according to BBC Sport.

The south Wales club were relegated after just one top flight campaign, but have already signalled their intentions to make a swift return to the elite. City have already signed four attacking players – Javi Guerra, Federico Macheda, Adam Le Fondre and Guido Burgstaller – with more arrivals expected at the Cardiff City Stadium before the season gets underway.

Cardiff finished the 2013/14 campaign in last place in the Premier League, with only also-relegated Norwich City scoring fewer goals. It is hoped that these new additions will provide significantly more firepower as they seek success in a division that is notoriously difficult to escape from.

With the forward line apparently now in place, Dalman claims that attention will be turned to strengthening other areas of the team. However, transfers may not all be incoming, with Dalman preparing himself for bids for star players Steven Caulker and Welsh international Gary Medel.

The club’s controversial management set-up has also been amended, with Dalman confirming: "The owner or the owner's representative, myself, the manager and general manager will have to sign off every transfer that we do.”

With such a level of rebuilding, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have plenty of options going into the new Championship season.
