Striker Matty Fryatt has left FA Cup finalists Hull City and joined Championship side Nottingham Forest, reports the Nottingham Post.

Hull City

Forest manager, club legend Stuart Pearce has moved quickly to snap up Fryatt on a free transfer after the Nuneaton-born striker rejected the offer of a new contract with the Tigers.

Fryatt was restricted to a largely peripheral role at the KC Stadium last season, making only 10 Premier League appearances. However, it was in the FA Cup where he had the greater impact, scoring four goals in the tournament as Hull made it to the final at Wembley, in which Fryatt started.

He also has recent Championship experience, after he spent two months during the first half of last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, where he scored four times in just nine games.

Fryatt initially joined Hull from Forest’s midlands rivals Leicester City for £1.2 million in the January transfer window of 2011. He was also capped by England at Under-19 level earlier in his career.

Pearce is also poised to add another striker to his squad: Lars Veldwijk, who scored an impressive 30 goals for Excelsior in the Dutch second tier last season.
