Magaye Gueye’s four years at Everton have come to an end as the French winger has left the Toffees by mutual consent, Sky Sports has reported.

Magaye Gueye

Gueye moved to Everton in 2010, signed by former manager David Moyes, for £1m from Strasbourg. He made 39 appearances for the club, mostly as a substitute, and scored three goals. The 23-year-old had a year left on his contract with the club.

He also spent the second half of the 2012-13 season on loan in France, playing eight game for Brest.

Gueye made only one Everton appearance last season, the first of Roberto Martinez’s tenure, coming off the bench to score against Stevenage in the FA Cup in January. He had previously played 30 games in two seasons for Strasbourg and played youth football for France before switching allegiance to Senegal. Gueye was part of the African country’s Olympics squad in 2012.

Everton also announced this week that Martinez had signed a new five-year contract with the club, a year after he was appointed from Wigan Athletic.
