PSG complete David Luiz deal

Paris Saint Germain have confirmed they have completed the staggering £50m transfer of Chelsea and Brazil centre back David Luiz after spending three years and a half at Stamford Bridge, reports the Daily Mail.

Luiz – who starred for Brazil in their world Cup opener as the Samba Stars beat Croatia 3-1, has signed a five year deal in Paris and will look to form a formidable partnership with fellow international team mate Thiago Silva.

The French champions announced the deal on their club website, stating: “Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce the transfer of Brazilian international David Luiz from Chelsea FC, for the next five years.”

After signing for the Blues back in January 2011 he went on to make 143 appearances for the club, 34 of those last season, and quickly became a popular figure at the club, winning the Champions League in 2012 and the Europa League a year later.

However under Jose Mourinho the iconic haired defender fell down the pecking order as John Terry sand Gary Cahill quickly formed a partnership that saw the Brazilian linked with a move away.

After being deployed as a defensive midfielder, the arrival of Nemanja Matic pushed Luiz even further out of the equation and has seen his exit to PSG for a world record fee paid for a defender.
