Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said that he is confident that Diego Costa will join the club this summer after admitting his interest in the Atletico Madrid star, Goal.com has reported.

Diego Costa

Costa has long been the subject of reported interest from Chelsea after having an outstanding season in La Liga, where he scored 27 goals as he helped Atletico to their first Spanish title since 1996. He has also broken into the Spain starting XI, playing for three quarters of their opening World Cup match against the Netherlands on Friday.

He has already dropped a hint that he will be heading to Stamford Bridge this summer, and he has already reportedly passed a medical after a fee of €44m was agreed between the two clubs. The 25-year-old now looks set to become Chelsea’s second signing of the summer after Cesc Fabregas joined from Barcelona.

Admitting that he is looking to sign Costa, Mourinho said: "Costa is a player I want in my team. I've asked the club to bring him in and I am extremely confident that we are going to get him and he'll end up signing for Chelsea."
