Romelu Lukaku believes his Belgium teammate Thibaut Courtois should be back at Chelsea next season, ESPN has reported.

Thibaut Courtois

Courtois has spent the last three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid, helping Diego Simeone’s side to victory in the Spanish league this year and the final of the Champions League, but his next move remains unclear.

Lukaku has said that while he has no inkling as to where the goalkeeper will be in future, he is sure he is ready to take the gloves at Stamford Bridge. “I don't know, I only read about it. You'll have to ask him,” Lukaku said when questioned on Courtois’ future.

“I think it's time. He's played at a very high level in Spain for three years. It's time to see him in England,” Lukaku added.

Lukaku has also spent time away from the Blues on loan, having been sent last year to Everton and the year before to West Bromwich Albion. The 21-year-old, who moved to Chelsea in 2011, has scored 33 goals in 71 games while away from the London club.
