Arsenal set to make £27m Balotelli bid
Arsenal are preparing to make Milan an offer of £27m for striker Mario Balotelli, who is expected to leave the San Siro this summer, the Metro is reporting.
Manager Arsene Wenger is looking to add depth to the Arsenal frontline and provide competition and support to first choice centre forward Olivier Giroud. Balotelli has long been on his radar, and despite initial doubts over the player’s attitude, Wenger has apparently given the green light to the offer.
Balotelli, who scored the winner as his Italy side defeated in England in their opening World Cup match, joined Milan from Manchester City in January 2013, but during that time the team has laboured, although he has managed a respectable personal tally of 30 goals in 54 appearances.
With Milan having struggled to a mid-table finish in Serie A last season, Balotelli may be attracted to Arsenal thanks to the prospect of playing Champions League football. Wenger may also see him as a player who can help propel the club towards making a sustained challenge for its first Premier League title since 2004.
