Scolari wary of Mexico test

Brazil manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has warned his side that they are in for a difficult test when they take on Mexico in Fortaleza on Tuesday, Goal.com has reported.

Both sides won their opening Group A matches, with Mexico following up Brazil’s controversial victory over Croatia with a stylish performance to see off Cameroon by a goal to nil. Victory for either side is likely to see them through to the knockout stages.

They last met at the same venue during the 2013 Confederations Cup, with Brazil running out 2-0 winners, but Scolari believes the Mexicans have improved since that encounter and that his side could find them tough to beat. He said: "The [Mexico] team are warriors. They are strong, skilful and well organised and they play a type football we should respect.”

"We are sure that every time we play against Mexico we have difficulties. I don’t have the statistics, but I think our records are very similar. So the match is very balanced. Both teams play good quality football, they pass the ball. We need to know that victory places us in a comfortable situation."

Meanwhile, Brazil have fitness concerns over Hulk, with the forward struggling with a thigh problem and set to undergo a late fitness test.
