Arsenal’s Cazorla unaware of Atletico interest
Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has said he knows little about rumoured interest in his services from Atletico Madrid, ESPN has reported.
It has been suggested that the Spanish champions will make an approach for the former Malaga playmaker and while Cazorla admitted he had heard good things about Atletico, he had no clue if there was any substance to the speculation.
“Everyone tells me [Atletico] is a good club, Koke and Juanfran are there as well [as David Villa],” Cazorla, currently on international duty with the three named players, said. “But I do not know anything. Until after the World Cup I do not want to know.
“Until the end of the World Cup I do not want to think about that,” Cazorla continued. “I have told my agents not to tell me anything, to avoid all the speculation.”
Cazorla has been an Arsenal player since 2012, having played for Villarreal before moving to Malaga. He also has 63 caps for Spain and is part of the squad named to defend the World Cup. La Roja meet Chile later on Wednesday having lost their opening Group B game 5-1 to the Netherlands on Friday.
