Arsenal to sell stake in Vela
Arsenal are to sell their stake in forward Carlos Vela to Real Sociedad, Football Espana has reported.
A report from Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo is cited and it’s claimed there that La Real will pay €10m to purchase the Gunners’ buyback clause for the Mexican, which stood at €4m.
Vela’s contract with the Spanish club runs until 2018 and his stipulated release fee is €30. It had been rumoured that Vela would return to the Premier League after impressing in La Liga. The deal is said to be incomplete as it stands but after talks between the clubs, it’s expected to be finalised soon.
The 25-year-old has scored 48 goals in 124 games for La Real and first moved to Arsenal in November 2005. He was loaned to Salamanca and Osasuna, only making his Arsenal debut in 2008. Vela went on to score 11 goals in 62 games under Arsene Wenger.
Vela was also loaned to West Bromwich Albion for the second half of the 2011-12 campaign, scoring twice in eight appearances for the Baggies. He then moved to Anoeta, and to date has spent three years with the Basque club.
