Lescott undergoes medical at West Brom
Former Manchester City and Everton defender Joleon Lescott has had a medical at West Bromwich Albion ahead of a proposed move to the Hawthorns, the Daily Express has reported.
Lescott, who began his career with West Brom’s Black Country rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers, is leaving Man City this summer due to the expiry and non-renewal of his contract.
He has been out of favour with the Premier League champions over the past two seasons, with Martin Demichelis and Matija Nastasic preferred alongside captain Vincent Kompany.
West Brom have been one of a number of Premier League clubs chasing Lescott, and they appear to have beaten the likes of Aston Villa and Hull City in the race for his signature. Should Lescott complete his move back to the West Midlands, he would become new Head Coach Alan Irvine’s first signing since taking charge at the weekend.
Overall, Lescott made 160 appearances after joining Man City from Everton in a controversial big-money move in August 2009. He scored nine goals, helping the club to two league titles and success in both domestic cup competitions.
