Vela will not rejoin Arsenal, reveals Griezmann
Real Sociedad striker Antoine Griezmann has revealed that teammate Carlos Vela will not be rejoining Arsenal this summer as he has already signed a new contract, the Daily Mail has reported.
Vela, who played for Arsenal between 2008 and 2011, before moving to Real Sociedad in a loan move that was later made permanent, has been heavily linked with a return to the Emirates Stadium this summer. The Gunners have a buy-back option included in the deal which took him to Spain, and were believed to be ready to take up that option.
However, Vela is not keen on returning to North London having struggled for regular first-team football during his initial spell at Arsenal. He has also settled at Real Sociedad, scoring an impressive 21 goals in 52 appearances.
And Griezmann, who is currently representing France at the World Cup, has said that Vela wants to stay at his current club. He said: "I'm talking to you in Spanish because of Carlos. He's a top player; there's no-one better. We have a great relationship on and off the pitch because we're good friends. He's relaxed. He's already signed a new contract and he's looking happy.’
