Swansea set to sign striker Gomis
Swansea City are set to complete the signing of striker Bafetimbi Gomis in the next week when the former Lyon striker travels to South Wales to hold talks with the club, according to the Daily Express.
Gomis is currently a free agent, having left the Stade Gerland at the end of last season. He had an impressive scoring record for the French side, netting 94 times in his 243 appearances over five years at the club, helping them to the Champions League semi-finals in his first season.
The Swans have beaten off interest from a number of other Premier League clubs to sign Gomis, with Newcastle United reportedly having offered a deal worth £75,000 per week. Sunderland and West Ham United are also said to have been interested, but the 28-year-old will now pen a three-year contract at the Liberty Stadium.
The impending signing of Gomis could make up for the possible departure of Wilfried Bony, with clubs such as Arsenal, Everton and Liverpool all reportedly interested in the Ivorian, who was Swansea’s top scorer last season.
