Gomis agrees Swansea deal
Swansea City are expected to wrap up the signing of France international Bafetimbi Gomis, Sky Sports has reported.
Gomis left Lyon at the end of the season when his contract expired and should make a free transfer move to the Liberty Stadium, following Lukasz Fabianski to the club. Fabianski left Arsenal for the Swans, having spent seven years with the Gunners.
The likes of Newcastle United, West Ham United and Sunderland were said to be keen to sign the 28-year-old Gomis, who last season scored 17 times for Ligue 1 club Lyon. Gomis has 12 caps for Les Bleus to his name and previously played for St. Etienne, moving to Lyon in 2009.
Gomis was close to joining the Magpies last summer but eventually stayed at Lyon, with Swansea also said to have shown interest in Gomis 12 months ago. He began his career at St. Etienne and had a brief loan spell with Troyes, making his senior international bow in 2008. Gomis has scored three goals for France but didn’t make Didier Deschamps squad for the World Cup.
