Sunderland to make £10m Borini bid
Sunderland are set to make an offer of £10m for Liverpool striker Fabio Borini, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Stadium of Light last season, according to the Daily Mail.
Borini scored several important goals in helping Sunderland avoid relegation to the Championship in the final weeks of the campaign, which he ended having scored 10 goals in his 40 outings.
With the partnership of Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez having proved successful at Liverpool, Borini has found opportunities limited there, with an injury-hit first season with the Reds ensuring that he has still only played 20 times under Brendan Rodgers since becoming his first signing after becoming manager in 2012.
Black Cats boss Gustavo Poyet has often stated that he would like to bring Borini back to Wearside, and is ready to test Liverpool’s resolve by making an offer. The Premier League runners-up are thought to value the Italian at around £12.5m.
However, Sunderland will be mindful that Borini could be offered as a makeweight in any deal which could see Southampton captain Adam Lallana move to Liverpool.
