Lallana close to Liverpool move
Southampton and England midfielder Adam Lallana is close to completing a move to Liverpool, the Daily Telegraph has reported.
A fee of £25m has been mooted for the Saints captain, who would re-unite with Rickie Lambert, who completed the same switch prior to the World Cup. It’s said that talks between Southampton and Liverpool are at an advanced stage and the transfer could be confirmed before the weekend.
Southampton previously rejected two offers from the Reds for the 26-year-old, who featured twice at the World Cup for England. Lallana has been at Southampton since he was 12, having come through the club’s academy and played all his club football in Southampton colours bar a loan spell at Bournemouth in 2007.
To date Lallana has made 265 appearances for Southampton, scoring 60 goals, since his debut in the 2006-07 season. He also has eight caps for England, making his senior international bow in the March friendly against Denmark.
Southampton are also expected to lose left-back Luke Shaw to Manchester United, the Telegraph add, having also had to replace Mauricio Pochettino as Coach after he moved to Tottenham Hotspur. Ronald Koeman was appointed in the Argentine’s place.
