Arsenal favourites to sign Sanchez and Schneiderlin

Arsenal are emerging as favourites to sign Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez and Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, according to the Daily Express.

Morgan Schneiderlin

Reports in France have suggested that the Gunners are leading the race for the duo, despite competition from some of their Premier League rivals. Sanchez has been linked with Liverpool in recent days, but a bid of £32m could see the Barcelona man move to North London.

Sanchez scored 19 goals in La Liga this season, but his future has come under question since the appointment of Luis Enrique as Barcelona’s new manager. He is currently on his way back from the World Cup after his Chile side were beaten on penalties by Brazil on Saturday.

Schneiderlin, meanwhile, is still in Brazil representing France, for whom he earned his first cap on Wednesday in the goalless draw with Ecuador at the Maracana. There have been reports in recent weeks that he could be set to join former boss Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham, but it appears that Arsenal have overtaken their North London rivals in their pursuit.

Schneiderlin, who has played in each of the top three tiers of English football since moving to the Saints in 2008, recently said that he was hoping to play in more important matches.
