John Obi Mikel isn’t worried by the increased competition for places at Chelsea after the signing of former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona, ESPN has reported.

Mikel, who is currently representing Nigeria at the World Cup, said that he is pleased to see Fabregas move to Stamford Bridge and argued that their positions within midfield are different, and he doesn’t see the Spain international as a threat as he feels at home at the club.

“There's no problem with Cesc's arrival. We don't play in the same position. It's my place at Chelsea, my second home,” Mikel said.

He did acknowledge, however, that the situation can change at a moment’s notice, even though his long-term future appears to be in west London. “In football, you never know what can happen,” Mikel added. “I'm very happy at Chelsea. I want to stay at Chelsea. I still have three years left on my contract. We're going to wait, and we'll see. Congratulations to Cesc on his transfer. I can't wait to play with him.”

Mikel has been at Chelsea since the summer of 2006, moving from Lyn Oslo. The 27-year-old has made more than 300 appearances, scoring four goals.
