Palace to make Caulker approach
Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis is to make an £8m offer for Cardiff City defender Steven Caulker, the Daily Telegraph has reported.
Palace are expected to face competition for the former Tottenham Hotspur centre-back from Queens Park Rangers, with Caulker free to leave the Welsh capital after Cardiff’s relegation due to an escape clause in his contract.
Caulker moved to Cardiff from Spurs last summer, having previously been on loan at Swansea City. He played in every one of Cardiff’s Premier League games last season but couldn’t help the Bluebirds avoid the drop.
The likes of Liverpool and Southampton are also said to be monitoring Caulker’s situation while Caulker could be joined by Frazier Campbell in moving to Selhurst Park. Campbell is understood to have a similar clause in his contract to Caulker and has caught the eye of newly-promoted Leicester City.
Caulker made only 29 appearances for the Tottenham senior team, having come through the club’s academy. He also had time on loan at Yeovil Town and Bristol City before completing a permanent move to Wales last summer.
