Tottenham plan move for Negredo
New Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is said to be targeting Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo as he plans his summer changes at White Hart Lane, the Daily Star is reporting.
The Argentinean is ready to go up against Atletico Madrid in an attempt to strengthen his striking options ahead of the new season – and Negredo could be landed for around £20m.
It was said the Spanish hit man was struggling with life in England but this doesn’t appear to have deterred Pochettino’s interest, who has reservations about his current options in attack.
He is said to be concerned over the consistency of Emmanuel Adebayor while wanting to run his finger over Roberto Soldado before taking a decision on his future despite a poor debut campaign.
Harry Kane is rated highly by Pochettino too and could play his part at Spurs again next term – but the manager will want a proven top goal scorer to lead the line.
Negredo, nicknamed “The Beast”, hit 23 goals last season despite making just 21 league starts due to injury – but did manage 48 appearances in all competitions.
