Liverpool could make an astonishing move for reported Arsenal target Mario Balotelli should an deal be done with Barcelona for shamed star Luis Suarez, the Metro is reporting.

Reports surfacing from Italy claim Brendan Rodgers could move for the another controversial striker in Balotelli, who he has pin pointed as one of his ideal candidates to replace the Uruguayan – as he looks increasingly likely to leave Anfield.

Having been banned for four months after his bite on Italian defender Georgio Chiellini Liverpool are said to be weighing up his future, with the Catalan giants still interested despite FIFA’s decision for a ban on all football activity.

And while it has been widely reported Rodgers would want winger Alexis Sanchez in any deal for the striker he is still keen on bringing in a like for like replacement.

Balotelli has been continuously linked with a move away from AC Milan this summer and Arsenal were reportedly at the front of the queue for the Italians signature.

But Liverpool could steal a march on their London rivals with the bad boy striker keen on a return to the Premier League.
