Barca’s Sanchez prefers Arsenal over Liverpool
Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez would prefer to join Arsenal rather than be used in the Spanish club’s move for Liverpool forward Luis Suarez, the Daily Mail has reported.
It’s been suggested that a Barca bid for Suarez could include Sanchez as past-exchange, with Barca valuing the Chile international around £30m. Suarez is said to have an £80m release clause in his Reds contract but Barca hoped to offer Sanchez in an effort to get Liverpool to lower the price.
But Sanchez would prefer to join the Gunners, rather than Liverpool, and Arsene Wenger is said to be receptive to the idea of bringing the former Udinese man to the Emirates Stadium. That would leave Barca having to offer a straight cash deal for Suarez.
Sanchez has been at Barcelona since a 2011 move from Udinese, going on to play 141 times for the Catalans, scoring 47 goals. He won the Spanish title in 2012-13 but Barca could only finish third last season.
Arsenal meanwhile ended last season in fourth place, two places and five points behind league runners-up Liverpool.
