Arsenal set to miss out on Di Maria

Arsenal could be set to miss out on Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria after French champions Paris St. Germain emerged as favourites for his signature, according to the Independent.

Di Maria

Manager Arsene Wenger is looking to add more quality in depth to his side this summer as he aims to get the club challenging for the Premier League title. Forwards Alexis Sanchez and Mario Balotelli are both on his wish list, while he is also keen on signing Newcastle United right-back Mathieu Debuchy.

Wenger has, however, had his eye on Di Maria, who feels a little underappreciated at Real Madrid and has challenged the Champions League winners to prove that he is a key player by offering him an improved contract. So far, a new deal has not been forthcoming, although that may change once he returns from the World Cup.

With Di Maria now considering his options, a bid of around £40m could be enough to tempt Real Madrid into a sale, but PSG are likely to have the upper hand when it comes to contract offers, with Laurent Blanc’s side willing to provide the Argentine with a massive weekly salary.
