Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Emre Can, according to the Premier League club’s official website.

Emre Can

A deal to sign Can was agreed in June but the transfer had been delayed while the paperwork was completed. With everything now in order, Can becomes Brendan Rodgers’ third signing of the summer after Southampton and England pair Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana.

“I am proud to be a part of the family and I am looking forward to playing here. I will give it my best,” Can said. “Liverpool is a great club and the fans are amongst the best in the world,” he continued. “I am looking forward to the first game and can't wait to step on the pitch for the first time at Anfield.”

Can began his senior career at Bayern Munich, making half-a-dozen appearances for the Bavarians’ first team, having played regularly for the second string. The 20-year-old Germany youth international moved to Leverkusen last season, making 39 appearances and scoring four goals for the BayArena outfit.
