Van Gaal plans new assistant

Monday 07 July 2014

Incoming Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has brought another new face into Old Trafford after bringing in former Netherlands U21 coach Albert Stuivenberg as one of his assistants, the Daily Star is reporting.

The reshuffle at the Red Devils continues after Van Gaal moved to already bring in players Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw for a combined total of a whopping £60m.

And now the shaping of Van Gaal’s United has spread to backroom staff – Stuivenberg will work alongside fellow assistant Ryan Giggs.

The arrival of the Dutchman has cast fresh doubt over the futures of coaching staff Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Phil Neville.

The Dutchman will also work towards developing the current youth structure at Old Trafford – in 2011 and 2012 he led the Dutch U17s to their UEFA European Championship victories.

This is unlikely to be the last change at United this summer with the club still linked with a whole host of players – the likes of Arturo Vidal reported targets, while players like Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic have already left.
