Michu set for Swansea exit
Michu is expected to leave Swansea City and move on loan to Serie A side Napoli, the Guardian have reported.
The Spain international has stayed back from his club’s tour to the United States as the clubs are in talks over the transfer, and his agents have confirmed negotiations are under way. Michu has made 67 appearances for the Welsh club, scoring 28 goals.
But the 28-year-old struggled with injury last season, featuring only 15 times from the start and scoring only a handful of goals, having netted 22 times in his first season after leaving Rayo Vallecano in a £2.2m 2012 move. He has five years remaining on his current contract.
Michu has a single Spain cap to his name, playing in La Roja’s World Cup qualifying win over Belarus in October 2013. He played just short of an hour before Alvaro Negredo was introduced in his place.
Napoli manager Rafael Benitez is said to be looking to bolster his squad for next season’s Champions League after the San Paolo-based outfit ended last year in third place, 24 points adrift of title-winners Juventus and seven points short of runners-up Roma.
