Arsenal up moves for trio
Arsenal’s summer transfer spree looks set to take a huge step forward after the deal for Alexis Sanchez moved closer, the Daily Mail is reporting, with offers for Mathieu Debuchy and Loic Remy also underway.
Arsene Wenger has been repeatedly linked with a number of players this summer but has seriously courted Chilean Sanchez after he hugely impressed during this summer’s World Cup, while defensive and striking options have also featured highly on his rumoured wish list.
The likes of Lars Bender have also been linked, but the trio of Debuchy, Remy and Sanchez look close to coming to fruition in a spree thought to cost around £50m.
Sanchez has opted to open talks with Arsenal rather than Liverpool, who were also seriously interested, and could earn up to £140,000 a week and match top earner Mesut Ozil.
The move will allow Barcelona to then make their move for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez who will cost £70m.
French right back Debuchy is also on the verge of joining the club in a deal worth £11m and will replace the outgoing Bacary Sagna who is leaving to join Manchester City on a free transfer.
His French international colleague Remy is the target of an £8m swoop, with that deal currently being held up with personal terms between the player and the club – Remy is currently earning £75,000 a week at QPR and the two parties are some way apart from an agreement.
