Arsenal and Tottenham target Morata to join Juventus
Juventus are set to sign Arsenal and Tottenham target Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid in a deal worth around £17.5m, according to the Daily Express.
Reports in Spain suggest that a deal is all but done, with Morata poised to join the Serie A champions on a four-year contract at the Juventus Stadium. The Spaniard had been expected to leave the Bernabeu this summer after becoming frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities. Last season he started just two games in La Liga.
Arsenal had long been linked with Morata, and they were keen on bringing him to the Emirates Stadium as they looked to boost their striking options. However, they are now expected to sign Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona. Tottenham had retained an interest themselves, but never made a formal enquiry.
It is rumoured that Morata told Real Madrid to sell him to Juventus or risk losing him on a free transfer next summer, and he now appears to have gotten his move to Italy. Ahead of the deal, the 22-year-old said: "I'm very happy. This is a new challenge for me."
